Welcome Message from the Chair (click here)
In 2024 Mark Darnell of GE Aerospace was elected DATC Chair. A message from Mark is on the way.
Welcome Message from the Prior Chair (click here)
I am deeply honored to have been elected as the Chair of the Digital Avionics Technical Committee (DATC). Both the DATC and our parent, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics serve missions very close to my heart. I have been a member of the AIAA/DATC since 2007 and this is my 2nd time serving as chairman. Our goal is simple, “to create a robust environment to share and communicate Digital Avionics within the Aerospace Industry.”
The last few years have been challenging for everyone and we were not immune. While the global effects of COVID have set everyone back, I am ecstatic that we were able to put on virtual and hybrid conferences to complete our mission over the last few years. As things begin to get back to normal, we are energized to step up our footprint and continue our mission at an even faster pace.
The DATC has been funding scholarships for years, and we have established 10 Endowments. This year we decided to add a new significant STEM activity to our outreach, and I could not be happier with the outcome. We fund the scholarships and STEM activity by putting on 2 big conferences each year. The Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC), and the Integrated Communication Navigation Surveillance (ICNS).
Our new big STEM event, led by Ann Witt of Honeywell took place at the Oshkosh AirVenture in July 2022. It was a spectacular success – Great Job Ann! In the coming years we will continue to expand the scope of both our scholarships and STEM work.
On this site you will find both information about our work and resources on Avionics.
We are always looking for more industry veterans and newcomers with a passion for giving back to join our ranks. Click the Join button at the top to find out more about joining AIAA and the DATC. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you,
